I took a beginners’ course in sculpting the structure of the human face at Riverbottom Pottery. Over 8 weeks I learned to build a portrait from the foundation up: the eyes, nose , mouth and ears. It was less about finishing a piece and more about walking away with the method that I can continue to build off of. Shit was hard as fuck, but was very therapeutic for me.
I have 10+ years of experience leading visual branding development for clients in politics, non-profit, and advocacy spaces. Currently, I am the Art Director of live events and marketing at Politico in Washington, DC. My role mainly consists of directing and collaborating with internal teams across mediums of video, digital, print, presentation and live events. I also manage project flow and prioritization including a weekly plan to ensure deadlines dates are met.
